The Plan

Our vision for our wedding is to create memories with the people closest to us, without having to cram it all into one time-constrained event.  We thought a cruise would be the perfect way to spend some time with everyone creating memories over the events of the week along with those on the wedding day.

We understand that each of you is allocating a significant amount of time and money to join us in this experience.  This is a vacation for you, and we want you to enjoy it your way without feeling like you "have to" do anything (except for the muster drill, there's no escaping that). Please think of our wedding as one of your shore excursions during your cruise vacation.

With that said, there are those of you who will want to know where the bride and groom are and where the action is.  We figured the best way to ensure this, is to plan a couple of activities during the week that people may choose to participate in if they wish.  Below, you will find those activities.  Below that, you will see "Shannon and Scot's Itinerary".  This is a general schedule of what the bride and groom will be up to each day so that anyone who wishes to join us may do so.  You will each get a copy of this in your room on the ship along with a room directory for our group.

Click HERE for a list of excursions you can reserve with us ahead of time.

Optional Scheduled Events

Meet And Greet at Sunset Bar, Deck 10

Join us on Embarkation Day at the very back of the boat (Aft) on Deck 10 before we set sail!  We will be enjoying some cocktails and waving goodbye to the shore as we kick off this epic adventure!

Sandcastle Beach Party, St. Croix on Day 2

On Day 2, we arrive in St Croix.  The Sandcastle Beach Resort is a perfect place for a beach party.  With the most beautiful beach on the island it’s less than ½  mile from the cruise terminal.  The resort sits at the beginning of the Sandy Point National Wildlife refuge with miles and miles of sandy beaches and good snorkeling right off shore.

The beach is public, so there is no cost to join us on the beach.  If you would like a beach chair or umbrella, you may enter through the resort and purchase a day pass ($5) to access the resort's facilities.  The resort has a restaurant and bar (with amazing Pina Coladas!) but you may also bring your own food and drinks (and booze) onto the beach.

Join us all day, or come visit after your day exploring the island.

Dominica Rainforest on Day 4

WATERFALL/RIVER TUBING/CHAMPAGNE SNORKELING

This is an all day excursion that begins with a bus picking everyone up at the port and heading to the Emerald Pool and waterfall.  It is about a 20 minute walk through the rain forest down to the waterfall, where you can swim in the waterfall!

From there, we head to another area of the island to meet our River Tubing guides.  They give each person a tube, helmet, and life jacket and we will spend the next 30 minutes tubing down the river.  I've never been white water rafting before, but I would imagine this to be a very tame version of that.  No paddles, just you in a tube.  The guides float with us just in case a tube gets stuck on a rock.  It's a lot of fun!

After the river tubing it’s back to the ocean for snorkeling in the Champagne Reef.   This is one of top snorkeling destinations in the Caribbean.  The hot-spring activity on Dominica makes little bubbles that come out of the coral, resembling the bubbles in champagne.

The tour concludes with the bus dropping everyone off back at the cruise port.  Lunch is not scheduled into this tour, but we plan to make a few stops along the way to pick up drinks and snacks, but most importantly drinks :)  Footwear is required for the River Tubing part of the tour, but I highly recommend bringing your own pair of water shoes for the whole trip.  The walk in the falls can get slippery and the beach where we will be snorkeling is covered in rocks.  Unless you want to soak a pair of tennis shoes, I would recommend water socks. You can get them at Walmart for about $5.  Click on Frequently Asked Questions for other helpful tips and info.

We’re negotiating with the tour operator directly to get a discount.  If you’re interested in the tour let Scot know.  The price is between $50 and $80 per person.

Rehearsal Dinner on Night 5

For members of the wedding party, parents and grandparents, we will be having our rehearsal dinner on the 5th night of the cruise—the night we return from Grenada.  The dinner will begin at 8PM at the Qsine Restaurant on-board the ship.  Be prepared for a fantastic culinary experience as we thank those participating in the wedding.  Those attending the rehearsal dinner will be provided with more details onboard the ship.
